POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR

This Policy has been developed to articulate our school beliefs and processes about positive behaviour support at Pingrup Primary School (PBS).

Through the policies and procedures outlined in this document we will be working to achieve our school vision of “Striving together Reaching Higher.”

Our purpose is to develop successful students who achieve their personal best and reach their potential, work co-operatively and are proactive members of the community.

The students, staff, parents/caregivers and wider community at Pingrup consider it a collaborative responsibility to work together to provide a safe, supportive and friendly environment in which all our students’ health and wellbeing is maximised to cultivate the optimal academic and social opportunities to increase student performance.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

This policy is informed by the Department of Education Student Attendance Policy and Student Attendance Procedures.

All schools are required to abide by the legislative requirements outlined in the School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000.

The Act requires all students of compulsory school age to be enrolled in a school or registered for home education. The compulsory school age is beginning of the year in which the child reaches the age of 5 years and 6 months (Pre-primary). All enrolled students are required to attend every day that the school is open for instruction.

Regular attendance at school is fundamental to student learning and allows students to build on knowledge and skills each day. Consistent attendance and participation are essential for all students’ academic and social learning.

At Pingrup Primary School, we believe that every day at school matters. Each day of absence makes a difference, with the effect on learning accumulating over time. There is an expectation that once enrolled, students will attend on a regular basis in order to optimise their education and reach their full potential.
